Vol. 319 No. 6

Written Answers. - Shankill (Dublin) Coast Erosion.

26.

asked the Minister for Finance if a scheme to prevent coastal erosion at Shankill, County Dublin has been submitted to the Office of Public Works, the cost of the scheme and the nature of the work involved; whether the scheme has yet been examined by that office and if or when it will be sanctioned.

The Commissioners of Public Works have received a proposal under the Coast Protection Act, 1963 from Dublin County Council for coast protection works for the coast in the south county including Shankill. The probable cost of the works or the nature of the work to be carried out will not be known until after the preliminary examination provided for under section 3 of the Act has been carried out. Having regard to prior commitments it is unlikely that it will be possible to undertake this preliminary examination before 1982.
