asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons for the delay in sanctioning two schemes of 37 and 38 homes in Ballybeg, Waterford city, in respect of which Waterford Corporation have submitted tenders through the National Building Agency, and when sanction will be forthcoming.

I have informed the National Building Agency that I see no objection to their proposal to recommend to Waterford Corporation for acceptance, tenders in respect of Stages 6 and 7 of the Ballybeg local authority housing scheme. The agency have been informed that no contractual commitment should be made until the corporation have been notified of their new works capital allocation for 1980.
The corporation's application for capital for new works is under consideration in my Department in conjunction with similar applications from other housing authorities and I will make a decision on these as soon as possible.
