Vol. 321 No. 6

Written Answers. - Waterford School Extension.

54.

asked the Minister for Education the date on which he received the cost report in respect of the extension to St. Stephen's School, Patrick St., Waterford, if the costs indicated were acceptable and when he will issue approval to go to tender, if his attention has been drawn to the delay in this case and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am advised by the Commissioners of Public Works that the cost report received by them in January last for the extension of St. Stephen's National School, Waterford, indicated costs in excess of the approved cost limit.

The preparation of the bill of quantities is being authorised on the basis that when the bill is being considered in due course, the requirement of bringing costs within the cost limit must receive further attention. Pending approval of the bill of quantities, it will not be possible to issue invitations for tenders.
