Allocation of Time: Motion.

I move:

That notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders and in the Resolution of the Dáil of 23 April, 1980 the following arrangements relating to business and sittings shall apply on Thursday, 29 May, 1980:—

(i) Questions to Ministers shall not be taken;

(ii) the Dáil shall, if necessary, sit later than 5.30 p.m. and business shall be interrupted at such hour as proceedings in connection with the motion referred to in paragraph (iii) have been concluded; and

(iii) (a) the speech of the member of Government opening the debate on the motion relating to the joint communique issued after the meeting in London on 21 May, 1980, between the Taoiseach and the British Prime Minister, and the speeches of the first speaker from Fine Gael and from the Labour Party shall not exceed one hour each;

(b) the speech of each other Member called on (other than the final three speakers) shall not exceed 30 minutes; and

(c) the final speaker from the Labour Party and the final speaker from Fine Gael shall be called on not later than 3 p.m. and 3.45 p.m. respectively, and a member of the Government shall be called on not later than 4.30 p.m. to conclude the debate not later than 5.15 p.m.
