Vol. 321 No. 9

Written Answers. - Naturalisation Certificate.

336.

asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay to date in the issue of a certificate of naturalisation to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and when same will issue.

There has been no unnecessary delay in this matter. The application was received at the end of July 1979 and, because of certain aspects of the case, some special inquiries had to be made. The applicant was informed by letter dated 25 February 1980, that I was not prepared to grant a certificate of naturalisation.

Following a further application, the applicant was informed, by letter dated 23 April 1980, that I would be prepared to consider an application again in a year from then. That implies that the reservations I have in this case might no longer obtain after that interval, but at this stage I cannot say how the matter will stand 12 months or so from now.
