Vol. 321 No. 9

Written Answers. - Sale of Meat from Intervention.

355.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if the sale of meat from intervention has caused any disruption on the European meat markets in the recent past.

The quantity of beef sold from intervention stocks in any given month is regulated so as to prevent serious disruption of the internal Community market. It should be noted that Community stocks of intervention beef on average represent only about three weeks consumption and, therefore, sales have very little effect on the market generally.
