Vol. 321 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Assistance Payments.

64.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason unemployment assistance has been withdrawn from a person (details supplied) in County Galway whose rateable valuation is £6 and who has a wife and five children to support.

The reason unemployment assistance has been withdrawn in this case is that the circumstances of the person concerned had to be reviewed following disclosure of additional means. The necessary inquiries have not yet been completed. Arrangements have been made to have the case dealt with as expeditiously as possible.

65.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware that unemployment assistance recipients have been disqualified from receiving their allowances without being given advance notice, recently; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am not aware of any recipient being disqualified from receiving unemployment assistance without advance notice. If the Deputy will provide me with details, I will have the matter examined.

66.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if his Department have issued a directive to health boards not to pay supplementary welfare assistance to persons disqualified from receiving unemployment assistance; and, if so, why.

My Department have not issued any such directive.
