426.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of private telephones installed in each of the following area in Dublin city in the last five years: (a) Ballyfermot, (b) Stillorgan, (c) Ballsbridge and (d) Drumcondra.

: The information requested is not readily available and compilation of it would involve a disproportionate amount of staff time.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the duration of the delay experienced by people awaiting ear pieces and other additional apparatus for telephones; if the application list in respect of such persons is closed; the number of people on the list; and the position in regard to facilitating people with medical conditions or a clear medical need.

: Normally, applications for special apparatus for people who are hard of hearing are dealt with promptly. However, because of a shortage of this equipment over a period this years there has been a delay in dealing with these applications.

Supplies are now coming to hand and issue of the necessary apparatus to meet about 350 applications on hands will re-commernce shortly. Other applications will then be met according as they are received.

Priority is given to such applications where a clear medical need is established.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for an elderly lady (details supplied) in Dublin who has a heart condition and who lives alone; and if priority will be given to the application.

: A telephone service has been available at this address for many years. There is no record of an application for any additional facilities by the person named.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when additional telephone lines will be provided for a committee (details supplied) in Dublin; if some degree of priority will be granted to this urgent application; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

: Provision of service in the area is dependent on the provision of underground cabling which, because of the volume of other urgent engineering work on hands and awaiting attention in the Dublin area at present, is unlikely to be completed before mid 1981.

430.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin; if he will grant some degree of priority to this application in view of the applicant's business needs; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Service will be provided when the necessary cabling works on which provisions of service is dependent are carried out about mid 1981. My Department are not aware of any special circumstances that would warrant according priority to the applicant over other applicants.

asked the Minister sor Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone number will be allocated to persons (details suppiled) in Dublin for whom a telephone receiver has been installed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

: Service was provided last month, and a telephone number allocated.

432.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephone service will be provioded for a person (details supplied) in Dublin; if he will expedite this appllication in view of the fact that the person has an elderly sister who is an old age pensioner living with her and who is often on her own; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

: Service will be provided as soon as the necessary cabling works on which provision of service is dependent are carried out. Because of the volume of other urgent engineering work requiring attention in the Dublin area, it is unlikely that it will be possible to have this work carried out for at least another year.

asked the Minister for Postsa and Telegraphs when additional telephone lines will be provided for a company (details supplied) in Dublin; the earliest date service can be provided; if he is aware of the serious implications for this business if it is not provided with the necessary telephone lines; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

: One of the two lines applied for was provided last July. Installation of the second line is dependent on the provision of addittional cabling in the area which, because of the volume of other urgent engineering work in hands and waiting attention in the Dublin area at present, is unlikely to be completed for a year or so.

434.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin who has been waiting four years for such service.

: It is expected that service will be provided within the next three months or so.

435.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants awaiting telephone service in Wedgewood estate, Sandyford, Country Dublin; and when these applications will be met.

: The number of waiting applicants is about 200. Service will be offered to all applicants following completion of necessary cabling works in a month or so.

436.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants awaiting telephone service in Moreen estate. Sandyford, County Dublin; and when these applications will be met.

: The number of waiting applicants is about 110. Service will be offered to all applicants following completion of month or so.

437.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applicants awaiting telephone service in (a) corbawn, Shankill and (b) Rathsallagh, Shankill, County Dublin; and when the applications will be met in each case.

: (a) 146, (b) 95. Service has been offered recently to most of the Corbawn waiting applicants and will be provided shortly after completion of the necessary agreements. It is expected that service will be offered to the remaining applicants in Corbawn, and all in Rathsallagh, within a month or so.

438.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin who is invalided, as the absence of this service is causing considerable hardship at present.

: Provision of service in this instance is dependent on the installation of additional cable which is not expected to be completed until towards the end of next year. The application cannot, regrettably, be met before then.

439.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a transfer of telephone service will be effected for a person (details supplied) in Dublin.

: Service will be provided as soon as the necessary cabling works on which provision of service is dependent are carried out. Because of the volume of other urgent engineering work requiring attention in the Dublin area, it is unlikely that it will be possible to have this work carried out for at least another year.

440.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will accede to the request for a telephone service for a person (details supplied) in Dublin as service is required for medical reasons.

: My Department are not aware of any medical circumstances involved in this application.

Service will be provided as soon as the necessary cabling works, on which provision of service is dependent are carried out in the second half of next year.
