384.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state, in relation to his Department's plans for post-primary education in (i) the Firhouse and (ii) Knocklyon areas of South County Dublin (a) whether he plans to build a post-primary school to serve each housing development; (b) the sites for any proposed new schools; (c) whether sites have yet been acquired or negotiations commenced for their acquisition; (d) when the schools will open; (e) what the schools' proposed catchment areas will be; (f) how many pupils the schools will cater for; and (g) what the school management structure will be in each case.

: A new school is to be built in Kilininny in the Firhouse area. It is intended to serve the Firhouse and part of the Old Bawn area. The school will have accommodation for 1,000 pupils and it is scheduled to open in September 1982. The form of management the school will have has not yet been decided.

It is proposed to build two new schools to cater for the Knocklyon, Ballyboden and Marley areas. The first of these two schools is intended to be built on a site on the Scholarstown Road. This school will accommodate 800 pupils and it is scheduled to open in September 1983. No decision has been taken on the school's form of management.

Procedures for the acquisition of a site are in progress in respect of the schools in Kilininny and Scholarstown Road.
