Vol. 323 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions . Oral Answers . - Dungarvan (Waterford) Garda Station .

41.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed to commence work on the new Garda station at Dungarvan, County Waterford.

: As the purchase of a site for a new Garda station in Dungarvan has not yet been completed it is not possible at this stage to say when work on its erection will commence.

: Is the Minister looking for a site in that area? Has there been an advertisement for a site and if so has the Minister got any replies to it?

: Has the Minister the money to pay for it?

: The Minister wants to spend it all in Kerry, as he told the Kerryman at the election.

: In August 1979 the Commissioners of Public Works agreed to the terms of the purchase of a new site for a proposed Garda station at Royce's Street, Dungarvan. Title difficulties arose which took some time to resolve. The contract for the sale was completed on behalf of the Commissioners of Public Works and returned to the vendor's solicitors but the vendor has not completed the contract and has since indicated that he wants to review the purchase price. The Chief State Solicitor in the area is in constant touch with the builder's solicitor.

: What is the Minister doing? Is he just standing idly by?

(Interruptions.)

: Order, please.
