I understand from the Garda authorities that delay, which in some instances may be about a year, has occurred in arranging for supplies of protective clothing for Garda motorcyclists and that this delay has affected a number of areas. I am informed, however, that contracts have now been placed, that deliveries of the clothing are due to commence very shortly and that as soon as supplies are received they will be issued to motorcyclists in all areas.
I have no direct function in relation to the arrangements made for supplies of this kind. These are matters which are dealt with by the Garda authorities and Post Office Stores.
