Vol. 324 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Dublin Telegram Service.

343.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he has any plans to improve the system of delivery of telegrams in the Clonsilla area of County Dublin; and if he will outline the present arrangements.

Telegrams for persons in the Clonsilla area are, as in other areas, telephoned to the addressees where telephone numbers are given or where it is established that the addressee can be contacted by telephone. Confirmation copies of telegrams are issued by post in such cases.

Hand delivery of telegrams for the Clonsilla area is arranged at present by the postmistress at Clonsilla sub-post office; she either delivers them herself or arranges for their delivery.

The general arrangements for the delivery of telegrams by hand in developing areas on the outskirts of Dublin city, including Clonsilla, are under examination at present and if improvements are found to be practical, they will be made.
