Vol. 326 No. 8

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

179.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that an applicant (details supplied) in County Roscommon has been waiting 4½ years for a transfer of telephone service; the reason for the long delay; and when service will be provided at his new address.

Provision of service at the new address involves extensive engineering work, including the provision of over a kilometre of new pole route. Because of the amount of work involved and the volume of other engineering work requiring attention in the area it will not be possible to provide service until about the end of this year.

180.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it will be possible to supply a telephone service to a person (details supplied) in Dublin; and if priority has been granted to this application.

It is expected that service will be provided before the end of the year. No evidence has been furnished to my Department that would warrant according this application priority treatment over other applicants.

181.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for an applicant (details supplied) in Dublin.

Service is dependent on the completion of cabling and the provision of additional exchange facilities to serve the area. It is unlikely that service will be provided for at least a year.
