Allocation of Time: Motion.

I move:

(1) That notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders and in the Resolution of the Dáil of 12 October 1977 (as amended by the Resolution of 14 December 1977)—

(a) the speech of the member of the Government opening the debate on the motion for the Second Reading of the Finance Bill, 1981, the speeches of the first speaker for Fine Gael and the first speaker for the Labour Party and the speeches of the final three speakers shall not exceed 45 minutes each;

(b) the speech of each other Member called on shall not exceed 30 minutes;

(c) the proceedings on the Second Stage of the Bill (including the Order naming the day for Third Stage), if not previously concluded, shall be brought to a conclusion at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, 8 April, 1981, by putting from the Chair forthwith and successively the Questions necessary to bring them to a conclusion; and on that day members as indicated hereunder shall be called on by the Chair to speak in the debate on the Second Stage of the Bill not later than the times specified:—

(i) 4.45 p.m. a Member nominated by the Labour Party;

(ii) 5.30 p.m. a Member nominated by Fine Gael; and

(iii) 6.15 p.m. a member of the Government; and

(d) the sitting tomorrow shall not be suspended from 1.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m.
