Vol. 328 No. 7

Written Answers. - Garda Numbers in Cork.

16.

asked the Minister for Justice the total number of gardaí serving Cork city and county; and the number of these who patrol on foot.

The strength of the Garda Síochána allocated to stations in Cork city and county on 31 March, 1981 was 957. The arrangements made for the allocation of manpower as between foot patrols and other duties in any particular area are matters for the Garda officers concerned. The number of gardá on foot patrol in Cork varies considerably from time to time and depends on factors such as the available resources, local circumstances, other demands for Garda services and the time of day or night.
