Vol. 330 No. 4

Written Answers. - New National Schools.

487.

asked the Minister for Education when he will sanction a new primary school for Clogheen/Kerry Pike, County Cork.

It is proposed to build a new school to replace the existing building at Clogheen. The accommodation proposed is five classrooms and a general purposes room but this will need to be reviewed because of increasing enrolments. The decision to replace the school was taken in 1977 but no progress has been made to date as a site has not yet been offered. The acquisition of a suitable site is a matter for the Reverend Chairman of the board of management, and I await hearing from the Reverend chairman on this matter.

488.

asked the Minister for Education the present position in relation to the proposal to erect a new school at Raheen, Headford, County Kerry.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that sketch-plans for the proposed new national school at Raheen, County Kerry, are nearing completion. It is expected that the plans will be sent to my Department for consideration in the near future and no avoidable delays will occur in making progress on this proposal.
