asked the Minister for Justice the number of days that a Judge of the High Court sat on the Special Criminal Court in each of the past three years; the number of cases dealt with; and how many hours were necessary.

During the years 1979, 1980 and 1981 (up to the end of September) a judge of the High Court sat on the Special Criminal Court for the following numbers of days: 1979, 142 days; 1980, 150 days; 1981, 93 days (to end of September).

The following numbers of cases were disposed of in each of those years: 1979, 53 cases; 1980, 43 cases; 1981, 26 cases (to end of September).

No records are kept of the number of actual sitting hours of the court or of the time spent by members of the court considering decisions.
