The number of persons at work in agriculture—excluding forestry and fishing—at mid-April 1980 was estimated at 214,000 which was 18.4 per cent of the total number of persons in employment.
The number of persons at work in manufacturing industry based on agricultural products or providing inputs for agriculture is estimated at 51,000 in 1980. This was 4.4 per cent of the total number of persons in employment.
