asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that a student (details supplied) in County Galway cannot benefit from a scholarship recommended by the College of Music, Dublin because County Galway Vocational Education Committee are not authorised by his Department to pay such scholarships; and, if so, the steps he intends to take to remove this discrimination.

It was not possible to approve the award of a scholarship under the VEC scholarships scheme in this case as the course in question is a two year part-time course. Under the terms of the scholarships scheme, all approved courses have to be full-time courses of at least two year's duration.
