asked the Minister for Education if free school travel will be available to pre-school children in rural Ireland; and if transport will also be provided for mothers who accompany their children should they so wish.

Examination of the proposals of the Government in relation to the implementation of a programme of support for nursery and playgroup operations has not yet been completed. As this matter involves a number of Departments it is not possible at this stage to give precise information as requested in the questions from the Deputy.
