asked the Minister for Education when the extension to Fenagh national school, County Leitrim was sanctioned.

In January, 1976, my Department decided in principle that Fenagh national school, County Leitrim, should be extended. In July 1978 formal approval was given by the Department for the provision of an extension comprising two classrooms and general purposes room and a grant towards the cost was sanctioned. The further arrangements for the erection of the extension to the school which involved the preparation of working drawings and specification, invitation of tenders and placing of a contract were a matter for the Commissioners of Public Works. A contract for the building of the extension was placed recently.

asked the Minister for Education when the new national school at Newtowngore, County Leitrim was sanctioned.

Approval in principle for the provision of a new national school at Newtowngore, County Leitrim, was conveyed to the rev. chairman of the board of management in November 1973.

A site was offered by the school authorities in February 1977; evidence of title was submitted by their solicitor in September 1980 and was confirmed as being in order by the Chief State Solicitor in November 1980.

Formal sanction for the new school, by way of sanction of a grant towards the cost, was given in November 1980. Such sanction could not have been given until satisfactory title to a suitable site had been established. The Commissioners of Public Works placed a contract for the building of the school in September 1981.
