Galway Corporation propose to provide a larger pumphouse at South-park together with a rising main to Mutton Island and a deep water outfall from the island. In March 1981, my Department conveyed approval to the seeking of tenders for the mechanical and electrical plant to facilitate planning of the civil works. I understand that the plant tenders are at present under examination by the corporation's consultant engineer.
As the plans for the future discharge of effluent from Galway main drainage scheme are not yet finalised, I am not in a position to give a time-scale for completion of the project.
