Vol. 331 No. 12

Written Answers. - Disease Eradication Scheme.

199.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will give serious consideration to increasing the grant for young reactor cattle which kill out at less than 440 lbs. dead weight.

200.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will investigate the possibility of increasing the present allowance payable to farmers whose cattle contract bovine tuberculosis.

201.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when he proposes to increase the price paid for reactors under the disease eradication scheme.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 199, 200 and 201 together.

All aspects of the disease schemes including the present levels of reactor grants are currently being reviewed prior to the preparation of fresh plans to accelerate eradication during 1982 and 1983. The grants for reactor cattle are already weighted in favour of animals killing out at less than 400 lbs. deadweight.
