Vol. 331 No. 12

Written Answers. - Dundrum (County Dublin) By-Pass.

334.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will indicate the progress being made by his Department and Dublin County Council on the (i) Dundrum by-pass and (ii) Southern Cross Route from White's Cross to Harold's Grange to Firhouse.

A report of a study carried out by Dublin County Council, to assess the traffic relief that would be afforded to Dundrum as a result of by-passing the village and the effects which a by-pass would have on other roads and junctions affected by it, was received in my Department on 19 October 1981 and is currently under consideration.

The planning of an extension of the Southern Cross Route from Harold's Grange to Whites Cross is a matter primarily for Dublin County Council. I have recently asked the council to submit outline plans for this extension. Some of these plans have since been received in my Department while others are still awaited.

As regards the section of the Southern Cross Route from Harold's Grange to Firhouse, I am awaiting a final decision by Dublin County Council on the alignment of this section of the route.
