Vol. 331 No. 12

Written Answers. - General Speed Limit.

339.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is satisfied that all entry points to this country have signs indicating that the general speed limit is 55 mph.

Road authorities are responsible for providing traffic signs on public roads. I am advised that signs to inform drivers that a general speed limit of 55 mph applies on all public roads in the State, are provided on all but one Border crossing on the approved routes from Northern Ireland. In the latter case the road authority concerned have indicated that the appropriate sign will be provided shortly.

In the case of airports and seaports the provision of signs is a matter for the authorities responsible for the management of such places.
