Work on the emergency flood alert plan for the Blackwater Valley, which is being prepared by Cork County Council in consultation with other bodies concerned, is at an advanced stage. My Department have furnished comments on a draft plan to the county council who are also consulting the Blackwater flood association. I understand that the county council have already provided certain equipment for monitoring water levels in the river and that further equipment required for implementation of the plan will be installed shortly.
