asked the Minister for Education (a) the number of applications with his Department for grants for community centres in County Mayo; (b) the money allocated for each of these schemes; and (c) the names of the centres qualifying for grants in 1981 and the allocation payable in each case.

A total of 36 applications for financial assistance under the Community, Youth, Recreational and Employment Programme have been received in my Department from various groups in County Mayo. A sum of £4.05 million has been allocated from the employment guarantee fund for the implementation of this programme.
The latest date for receipt of completed application forms was 30 November 1981 and my Department are currently examining the applications received. Until all applications are fully examined, I will not be in a position to say which projects may qualify for grant-aid.
