asked the Taoiseach the proportion of the unemployed who have been unemployed for a minimum of six months at the latest available date in each of the past six years.

The information available is that derived from the periodic analyses of duration of continuous registration of persons on the live register. The changes which have occurred, over the period covered, in the criteria for eligibility and for duration of payment affect the comparability of the figures.

Following is the available information for April 1981, the latest period available and for the nearest corresponding period for earlier years;

27 weeks or more continous registration per cent of total persons on the live register
