A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and that the conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with.

There is no record in the Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

270.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a home improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

Under the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended) it was necessary for payment of the grant that all the relevant works be satisfactorily completed and a claim for payment received in the Department on or before 30 June 1981. As this requirement was not complied with in the case referred to a grant cannot be paid.

271.

There is no record in the Department of the receipt from the person named of an application for a house improvement grant.

272.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether any assistance can be made available by his Department or the local authority in question to a person (details supplied) in County Galway whose house was recently demolished by lightning.

A grant is not available from my Department to help this person to rebuild his house. However, it is possible that he would qualify for the £1,000 grant and £3,000 mortgage subsidy if he decided to provide a new house with the aid of a loan from a bank, building society or local authority. Alternatively, the question of a reconstruction loan might be taken up with the local authority, which, if the circumstances so warranted, might be prepared to rehouse the person concerned.

273.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of a water supply grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

This grant will be paid when an inspection shows that the works have been satisfactorily completed and are in order for payment. The inspector has been asked to deal with this case as soon as possible.

This grant was paid recently.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application from the person named at the address given. A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and that the other conditions applying to the grant scheme have been fulfilled.

278.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a home improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway who informed his Department by registered letter dated 26 March 1981 that the work had in fact been completed.

This grant will be paid when an inspection, to be carried out shortly, establishes that the works have been satisfactorily completed. It has only recently been established that the requisite claim for payment had been received from the applicant before the closing date.
