Vol. 333 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telesis Report.

7.

(Limerick East) asked the Taoiseach when he intends to publish the Telesis report.

I have received the report "A Review of Industrial Policy", prepared for the National Economic and Social Council by the Telesis Consultancy Group, from the National Economic and Social Council. In accordance with normal procedure I am arranging for its submission to the Government and subsequent presentation to the Houses of the Oireachtas.

I expect this process to be completed at an early date, after which the report will be published by the National Economic and Social Council.

(Limerick East): The Taoiseach says he will arrange to have the report presented to the Houses of the Oireachtas at an early date. Can he be more specific?

As soon as it can physically be done. Almost immediately.

(Limerick East): There will be no delay apart from the physical content.

Will its eventual publication be accompanied by the comments of the NESC?

That is not the usual procedure. As the Deputy knows, it is one of a number of reports all of which have to be taken together. It will be published by the NESC with an abbreviated comment by the Government.

And no comments by the NESC on the report?

As far as I know the NESC have no comments but if there are any they will be published with it.
