Vol. 333 No. 8

Written Answers. - Rosscarbery (Cork) Sewerage Scheme.

958.

asked the Minister for the Environment if money has been allocated this year for Rosscarbery sewerage scheme, County Cork; and, if so, when work will commence.

959.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position in regard to the sewerage scheme at Rosscarbery, County Cork; when it will be sanctioned; and when work will commence on the scheme.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 958 and 959 together.

Proposals for the new Rosscarbery sewerage scheme must be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for sanitary service schemes, the need to conserve available capital for schemes of the highest priority and the number of such schemes at present in progress or getting to construction stage for which adequate finance must be provided, including—

—Bantry water supply improvement scheme;

—Courtmacsherry sewerage scheme; and

—Clonakilty regional water supply scheme.

I am not in a position to say when a decision will issue to the local authority on the contract documents for the Roscarbery scheme, which are at present under consideration in the Department.
