asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and is occupied and that the other conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

A grant cannot be paid in this case as none of the works qualify under the terms of the scheme. The applicant is being informed accordingly.

The grant will be paid shortly.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and when the payment will be made.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant was so informed on 4 December 1981.

975.

There is no record of the receipt in the Department of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary.

As the works in this case commenced prior to 1 November 1977, the latest date for the receipt of an application for payment of the grant was 31 January 1980 — section 23 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1979. No such application was received from the person named and payment cannot, therefore, be made.

977.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and when it will be paid.

This applicant was requested on 12 March 1980 to forward to the Department evidence that, on or before 21 January 1980, he had — (a) entered into a contract for the carrying out of the relevant works, or (b) commenced the works, or (c) purchased the necessary materials.

He was also advised to the same effect by the Department's inspector. However, he has not to date complied with this statutory requirement and the application cannot be advanced until he does so. Evidence of planning permission is also required before the grant in respect of sewerage facilities can be paid.

978.
