District Court statistics are compiled in respect of the legal year ended 31 July rather than in respect of the calendar year and, accordingly, the information sought by the Deputy is not readily available and could not be compiled without the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of staff time.
The number of special exemptions granted under the licensing laws for the year ended 31 July 1980 was 40,686 and the number granted in respect of the year ended 31 July 1981 was 37,061.
