Vol. 334 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Donegal Sewerage Schemes.

162.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make sufficient money available immediately to allow Donegal County Council to proceed with a very much needed sewerage scheme to service Carnamuggagh Upper area, Letterkenny, where a very definite health hazard now exists.

I understand that Donegal County Council have made a commitment to carry out the extension of the Letterkenny sewerage scheme to Carnamuggagh Upper this year and to finance the estimated cost — £15,000 — from the allocation of £100,000 made to the council for small water and sewerage schemes in 1982.

163.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the serious sewerage situation in the town of Moville, County Donegal; and if, in view of the very obvious public health nuisance and the urgent need for immediate attention, he will make special funds available to enable Donegal County Council to proceed with a crash programme to overcome the developing crisis.

Contract documents for the Moville sewerage scheme were submitted to my Department by Donegal County Council in August 1979.

By letter of 14 September 1979, the county council were requested to re-examine their proposals for effluent treatment for the scheme. No further proposals in connection with the scheme have been received to date.
