Vol. 334 No. 3

Written Answers. - Retirement Pension Payment.

209.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the reason for the delay in paying a retirement pension to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford who retired from the Forestry Division on 26 October 1981.

The person referred to ceased work in October last but a medical certificate indicating that he was no longer fit for work was not received by my Department until mid-November.

In accordance with the relevant regulations the case was then referred to the Chief Medical Officer and the Department of the Public Service for approval of retirement on grounds of ill-health as a preliminary to calculation of gratuity and pension entitlement.

The appropriate gratuity has recently been paid and it is understood that payment of pension by the Paymaster General's Office will commence shortly.
