asked the Minister for Agriculture if it is his intention to increase the building grants under the farm building scheme; if he is aware that the scheme now in operation is based on estimates at 1979 costs; and if, in view of the difficulties in which farmers are finding themselves, he will favourably consider bringing the grants into line with current costs.

Because of the severe pressure on Exchequer resources it has not been possible to make any revision recently in the standard national costings used to determine the amount of grant aid for farm buildings under the farm modernisation scheme. The matter is, however, being kept under continuous review.
