I have been concerned for some time about the level of prices in licensed premises for soft drinks. At my request the National Prices Commission have examined the feasibility of a number of approaches to the control of soft drink prices in licensed premises but such examinations to date indicate that there are certain legal problems associated with attempts to institute control on the basis of a maximum prices order.
There are, of course, a wide range of other outlets at which soft drinks may be purchased at prices substantially cheaper than licensed premises and I would expect people to purchase from those outlets which provide best value for money.
