The latest available financial results of the three State airports are for the year ended 31 December 1981. The results show that both Shannon and Cork airports, though significantly improving their financial positions by 51 per cent and 18 per cent respectively over their 1980 results, recorded operating losses of £767,000 and £368,000 respectively.

It is not anticipated that the opening of the Connacht Regional Airport will have any significant impact on traffic levels at either Shannon Airport or Cork Airport.
