asked the Minister for Justice the number of Ban-Ghardaí at present; the towns in which they are stationed; and if it is intended to deploy them in other towns in the near future.

At present the total number of women of all ranks in the force is 208, including 19 ban-Ghardaí in training. Particulars of the centres to which the 189 members who have completed their training are at present asigned are as follows:

The detailed deployment of Garda personnel is a matter primarily for the Garda authorities who have informed me that they propose to allocate women members of the force to other centres in due course but that the precise locations to which they will be allocated have not yet been decided.
