Vol. 337 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

505.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in Killmallock, County Limerick.

Under the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended), the latest date for completion of work and receipt in my Department of claims for payment was 30 June 1981. As this statutory requirement was not complied with in this case, a grant cannot be paid.

506.

(Limerick East) asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a £1,000 new house grant has not been paid to persons (details supplied) in County Limerick.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a £1,000 new house grant from the person named. However an application from this person under the former grants scheme was rejected in December 1978, because his income was in excess of the maximum allowable limit.

507.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a reconstruction grant was not paid to a person (details supplied) in Bantry, County Cork, even though the housing inspector called and passed the grant for payment in 1979.

As the work had not been completed when an inspection of the house was carried out by my Department's inspector in April 1980, payment of the grant approved was not made at that time. A further inspection is now being arranged with a view to the payment of the grant.

508.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a water grant will be paid to persons (details supplied) in Enniscorthy, County Wexford.

Grants totalling £600 have been allocated to these two applicants who together constitute the Tinakilla group water scheme. Payment of grants is at present in course of issue to the group.

509.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement inspection will take place for persons (details supplied) in Duncormick, County Wexford.

An inspection with a view to the approval of a grant will be carried out as soon as possible.

510.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a person (details supplied) in Ennis, County Clare, who applied for a house improvement grant did not have the overcrowded position in the house recognised in the acknowledgment to his application as there are three adults in the existing dwelling which has only one bedroom.

A grant for the provision of an extra bedroom was not allowed in this case because the house could not be regarded as being overcrowded for grant purposes. The applicant stated in his application that himself and his wife were the only occupants of the house and this was subsequently confirmed by the Department's inspector.

511.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Bannon, County Wexford.

There is no record of the receipt in my Department of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

512.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the balance of a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Ballinasloe, County Galway.

The balance of this grant will be paid shortly.

513.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will reconsider his decision in relation to a reconstruction grant for a person (details supplied) in Gort, County Galway.

Grants in respect of an additional bedroom and a bathroom were sought in this case. These grants cannot be allowed as the inspector's report indicated that overcrowding does not exist and there is an existing bathroom in the house.

514.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position in relation to a house improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in Athenry, County Galway.

There is no record in my Department of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.
