Vol. 337 No. 4

Written Answers. - Priority List of Rivers.

417.

asked the Minister for Finance the priority list of rivers to be cleaned by the Office of Public Works in each of the next five years; and the estimated cost of cleaning each river.

Construction works on the following arterial drainage schemes are at present in progress, and are expected to be completed within the next five years:

Scheme

Estimated Total Cost

£

Boyne

38m.

Maigue

25.5m.

Corrib-Mask-Robe

19m.

In addition to this, work on the Boyle and Bonet schemes will commence this month and continue for about five years at total estimated cost of £13.7 million and £3.3 million respectively. Several other schemes are in course of planning but I cannot say when the necessary statutory procedures can be completed or when any of them might reach the works stage.
