asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Tallaght, County Dublin.

Within the next three months.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why the telephone line of a company (details supplied) at Lucan, County Dublin, was withdrawn and apparently supplied to another company on Friday, 21 May 1982; if he will confirm that the number was subsequently changed with the new company; and when a telephone will be resupplied to the original company.

Service has not been withdrawn. The problem is a fault in the underground cable. Service will be restored as soon as possible but this may take a week or so because of the large number of faults on hands.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a firm (details supplied) in Rathcoole, County Dublin.

It is expected that the additional lines requested will be provided within about a year.

(Dublin North-Central) asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for persons (details supplied) in Dublin 5, as the application was made two years ago.

Service will be provided as soon as it is possible to do so but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling will be completed for about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will retain the operators' number 10 at Ennistymon, County Clare until such time as all the other areas in County Clare are automatic.

Ennistymon manual exchange provides services for subscribers connected to the following exchanges: Ballyvaughan, Bell Harbour, Burrin, Carron, Craggagh, Ennistymon, Kilfenora, Miltown Malbay and Quilty. It will be maintained on a gradually reducing scale until all these exchanges are converted to automatic working. Retention of the manual exchange beyond that would not be warranted.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12, who paid for the installation of a telephone on 14 December 1981.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Crumlin, Dublin 12, as she is 68 years of age and lives alone.

Service will be provided as soon as it is possible to do so but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling will be completed for about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in Ballyconneelly, County Galway, has been without a telephone service since 1 June 1982; and the steps that will be taken to ensure that a satisfactory service is available in the future.

Service has been restored. As indicated in reply to questions from the Deputy some time ago, special consideration is being given to ways of improving the service in the Clifden charge group which includes Clifden. I hope to be able to advise the Deputy of the outcome of our study later this month.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of complaints received by his Department since 1 January 1982 regarding the telephone service in the Clifden exchange area, Connemara, County Galway.

The number of complaints formally recorded since 1 January 1982 was 18. There have also been quite a number of complaints in respect of which precise details have not been recorded.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored to a person (details supplied) in Ratoath, County Meath, as his telephone has been out of order for 11 weeks.

Service will be restored as soon as possible but this may take a week or so because of the large number of faults on hands.

479.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will provide additional telephone lines as a matter of urgency to a firm (details supplied) in Dublin 2, as they require these lines for business purposes and have been seeking additional lines for over four years.

It is expected that the additional lines, which were applied for in November 1981, will be provided within about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in repairing a telephone kiosk in the Meathill area, County Meath as it has been our of order for the past two months.

Service will be restored as soon as possible but this make take a week or so because of the large number of faults on hands.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be installed for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin, who is aged 82, lives alone and is in poor health.

Service will be provided as soon as it is possible to do so but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling will be completed for about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone call-box will be installed in a house in Drumcondra, Dublin 9 (details supplied) which is set in flats as the application was made two years ago.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of telephone applications outstanding in the Whitethorn Estate, Beaumont, Dublin 9; and when the engineering works necessary to make the connections will be completed.

There are four waiting applicants in Whitethorn Estate. It is expected that the additional underground cabling necessary will be completed within about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of telephone applications at present outstanding in the Ardmore-Montrose Estate, Artane, Dublin 5; and when the engineering works necessary to make these connections will be completed.

There are 26 waiting applicants in the Ardmore-Montrose Estate, Artane. It is expected that the necessary additional cabling will be completed within the next six months or so.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of telephone applications at present outstanding in Kilbarron estate (road, park, avenue and drive), Coolock, Dublin 5; and when the engineering works necesary to make these connections will be completed.

There are 21 waiting applicants in Kilbarron Estate. It is expected that the necessary additional cabling will be completed within the next six months or so.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of telephone applications at present outstanding in Cromcastle Estate (road, park, drive, avenue and green), Coolock, Dublin 5; and when the engineering works necessary to make these connections will be completed.

There are 23 waiting applicants in Cromcastle Estate. It is expected that the work necessary will be completed within the next six months or so.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in transferring telephone and telex services for a company (details supplied) in Kilmainham, Dublin 8; if he will now grant priority to the transfer of telex and telephone lines to enable the company concerned to recover lost business and maintain and increase employment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It has not been possible to provide service so far at the company's new address because of the large volume of engineering work on hands and awaiting attention in the Dublin area. Telex service can now be provided and the work will be completed as soon as possible. Telephone service will be given as soon as it is possible to do so but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling will be completed for about six months.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in installing a telephone for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

It has not been possible to provide service so far for the person concerned, who applied in May 1982, because of the volume of engineering work on hands and awaiting attention in the Waterford area.
