These stations are illegal as they operate in breach of the Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1926, which regulates the use of wireless telegraphy apparatus.
They are also in breach of international agreements regarding the use of the radio frequency spectrum. It is my intention shortly to seek the approval of this House for new legislation which will enable my Department to close down these stations.
