asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Palmerstown, County Dublin, who applied for a telephone about five years ago.

It is expected that service will be provided for the person named, who applied in January 1980, within about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Lucan, County Dublin, who paid for a telephone service in early January last.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the transfer of a telephone number which was applied for by a person (details supplied) in County Dublin two years ago, will take place.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Finglas West, Dublin 11, as it is required for medical reasons.

Service will be provided as soon as it is possible to do so but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling will be completed for about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason a person (details supplied) in Terenure, Dublin 6, has not had her telephone fixed as it has been out of order for 13 weeks, has been reported twice a week during that time and a written complaint has been made on at least two occasions; and if he will arrange that this telephone will be fixed without any further delay.

The fault is in the underground cable. Service will be restored as soon as possible but this may take a week or so because of the large number of faults on hands.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if the telephone of a person (details supplied) in County Dublin will be connected forthwith, having regard to the commitment he received from his Department to have the installation completed some weeks ago and to the fact that his subscription and initial payment were made some nine months ago.

Service is in course of being provided. It is regretted that the work has taken longer than was expected when a previous question was answered

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if telephone repairs will be carried out urgently for a person (details supplied) in Tallaght, County Dublin, as her line has been out of order since April last.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will have the continuous breakdown in the telephone service for a firm (details supplied) in Dublin 7 which employs eight people investigated with a view to either replacing the line or granting them an additional one.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will take the appropriate action to restore a telephone service to a person (details supplied) in Rathfarnham, Dublin 14, as she is at present only receiving telephone calls but is unable to make telephone calls.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in providing a telephone service for a person (details supplied) in Castletown, County Meath.

It has not been possible to trace an application on behalf of the person named. If the Deputy can furnish additional information, e.g., when and where the application was made, a further effort will be made to trace it.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the hardship that is being caused by the undue delay in providing the special fitting on telephones to assist deaf persons; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The main aid for the hard of hearing is the ampliphone which is a special telephone instrument with an amplifier and volume control.

Supplies of the existing model are exhausted. Tenders have been invited for a modern type ampliphone and it is expected that supplies will become available late this year or early next year.

The company named has telephone service. A survey is being carried out to ascertain when it will be possible to provide additional lines. The company will be advised of the result of the survey as soon as it is completed.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be installed for a person (details supplied) in Walkinstown, Dublin 12.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the public telephone and private line which Poppintree Community centre, Poppintree, Ballymun, Dublin, applied for will be installed.

It is expected that public telephone facilities will be provided for the centre named within about three months.

Additional engineering work will have to be carried out before a second telephone can be provided. It is expected that a second line will be provided within about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the public telephone kiosk which was provided at Gleneely, County Donegal, over a year ago will be made operative.

Service will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling will be completed for about six months.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be installed for a person (details supplied) in County Cork as he has been waiting up to three or four years for service.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork who is in receipt of a widow's pension and who applied for a free telephone rental allowance in October 1981, is still waiting for a decision on her application.

The person in question was not the renter of the telephone. It was necessary to have the telephone agreement transferred to her to enable the free rental to be applied. The free rental will be applied in the next telephone account to issue and appropriate credits will be allowed for the period since the allowance was authorised.

532.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if his Department will make arrangements urgently to have telephones repaired and restored in the Renanirree area, Macroom, County Cork.

Service has been restored on all the lines which were out of order.
