Vol. 337 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grant Payments.

45.

(Limerick East) asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason grants under the cattle headage disadvantaged areas scheme were not paid to persons (details supplied) in Doolin, County Clare.

The persons named are joint registered herd owners. It was a condition of the 1981 cattle headage scheme that an applicant's off-farm earnings could not exceed £4,750. One of the persons named had an income in excess of this figure and is, therefore, not eligible for grants. The other joint registered herd owner, is eligible for grants and will receive shortly a payment equivalent to 50 per cent of the cattle headage grants appropriate to the herd under the disadvantaged areas schemes.

46.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will pay a grant for farm buildings under the farm modernisation scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The applicant is classified as a development farmer and is, therefore, required to keep farm accounts for each year of his plan. Payment of the grant cannot be made until the applicant furnishes evidence that he is complying with this requirement.
