The Clerk of the Dáil made the following announcement:
I gcomhlíonadh Bhuan-Ordú céad triochadh a seacht de Bhuan-Orduithe Dháil Éireann i dtaobh Gnó Phoiblí, tá orm a chraoladh gur toghadh Nollaig Ó Treasaigh don Dáil sa Chorrthoghchán a bhí ann an Ficheadh Iúil, míle naoí gcéad octó a dó, do Dháilcheantar na Gaillimhe Thoir de chionn an Teachta Seán Ó Callanáin d'fháil bháis.
Tá an Rolla de Chomhaltaí sínithe ag an Teachta Nollaig Ó Treasaigh do réir Bhuan-Ordú a haon.
In compliance with Standing Order 137 of the Standing Orders of Dáil Éireann relative to Public Business, I have to announce that Noel Treacy has been elected to the Dáil at the By-Election held on 20th July, 1982, for the Constituency of Galway East consequent on the death of Deputy John Callanan.
Deputy Noel Treacy has signed the Roll of Members in accordance with Standing Order 1.
Deputy Noel Treacy, the new Member for the Constituency of Galway East, was introduced to the Ceann Comhairle by the Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach (Mr. B. Ahern).
