Vol. 338 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dublin Housing Problem.

398.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the anxiety being caused to residents in the Parade's area of the North Circular Road, Dublin 7, and which has been expressed by the Glengariff Parade and District Residents' Association, with reference to the question of dividing walls between attics which in the case of many of the houses are well over 50 years old and allow access from one house to another; if he is also aware that the residents are afraid of the fire-hazard involved; and if he will make a statement in relation to the grant aid which may be available in these cases.

I am aware of the position relating to the houses referred to. However, as the Deputy was recently informed in response to representations in the matter, the position is that the kind of work that would be required does not come within the scope of the current scheme of house improvement grants.
