asked the Minister for Education if approval will now be given for the appointment of another remedial teacher for autistic children in Stewart's Hospital, Palmerstown, County Dublin, having regard to the fact that there are now sufficient numbers in the hospital to warrant the formation of a new class; and if approval of the appointment will be given as a matter of urgency.

My Department have recently sanctioned two additional teaching posts for this special school in view of the numbers of children with more than one handicap. The deployment of the services of the additional staff will be a matter for the principal teacher in consultation with the district school inspector.
