Written Answers. - Departmental Appointments.

44.

asked the Minister for the Environment the name, position, rank, terms and conditions of appointment and salaries of any non-established civil servants appointed by him or his Minister of State on a full time or part time basis up to 26 January 1983; and, if they are on secondment, the agencies or bodies from which they were seconded.

45.

asked the Minister for the Environment if any agencies, companies or individuals of a consultancy, advisory or publicity nature have been appointed by him or his Minister of State up to 26 January 1983; and, if so, if he will give full details of such appointments in respect of remuneration etc.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 44 and 45 together.

I have made arrangements to engage the following persons to serve in my private office in a temporary capacity: Mr. J. Revington, political adviser and Misses M. Spring and S. Clarke as personal assistants on secondment from their posts of secretarial assistants in the Houses of the Oireachtas. The remuneration rates have not yet been determined in their cases.

The Minister of State, Deputy Ruairí Quinn, has made arrangements to engage Miss D. Rogers as personal assistant on secondment from her post as secretarial assistant in the Houses of the Oireachtas and Mr. J. Long as his political adviser to serve in a temporary capacity. Miss Roger's remuneration will be £9,350 per annum, while Mr. Long's remuneration has not yet been determined.

These appointments will be co-terminous with the terms of office of the Minister of State and myself. My immediate predecessor engaged Mr. Anthony Lambert as his personal assistant for the duration of his term of office at a salary of £12,048 per annum.
