This application for a new house grant was rejected because the floor area of the house exceeds the maximum area allowable for grant purposes (1,346 sq. ft.). The conditions that apply to the grant also apply to the mortgage subsidy and so this person's application for the subsidy cannot be allowed.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of a £1,000 new house grant and a mortgage subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.
My Department are awaiting the submission of a Form SL 4 which the applicant has been asked to complete and have certified by his inspector of taxes. On its receipt the application will be processed further.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of the balance of a reconstruction grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.
An inspection with a view to the payment of the balance of the grant has been arranged in this case.

asked the Minister for the Environment when traffic route lighting will be erected at Oranmore, County Galway; and if he will sanction the extension of this lighting to the new community centre on the Dublin Road.
The proposals of Galway County Council for traffic route lighting at Oranmore were approved by my Department on 8th April, 1982. I understand that work has commenced on the scheme.
The approved scheme provides for public lighting in the area covered by the speed limit on the Dublin Road. I understand that the community centre is located 300 metres outside the speed limit area. The question of extending the lighting to the community centre would be a matter, in the first instance, for Galway County Council.

asked the Minister for the Environment if approval will now be issued for a home improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.
Approval cannot be issued to the payment of such a grant as a previous "solid fuel" grant was paid in this case.
